This course begins with a discussion of the ethical influences on the agent and defines those parties with whom the agent has an ethical relationship, including the public, the insurance company, clients, regulators, competition and coworkers. The next section of the course explores the regulatory environment, including the department of insurance and its roles in authorizing insurers, monitoring insurers, approving policies, authorization agents and monitoring agents. This section also defines and explains trade practices legislation such as rebating, twisting, misrepresentation of the policy, fraud and more. The third section of the course delves into the ethical relationship of the agent and the insurance company, including the authority, power and responsibilities of the agent as it applies to the agent�s relationship with the insurer. The fourth section of the course looks at the ethical responsibilities of the agent, including competence, making appropriate sales, disclosure, responding to objections, making the sale, confidentiality and service.
